Metaverse and creative industries: Proposal for the creation of “Francophonie en VR” and a competition “Les avatars du patrimoine francophones”

The president of the France Immersive association, Nicolas Dupain, proposed the creation of “Francophonie en VR”, a kind of unifying space to restructure the French-speaking immersive ecosystem, which, he said, is a formidable lever for prosperity and community.

Speaking at the conference on “The Metaverse and Cultural Creative Industries in the age of digital Francophonie”, he called on French-speaking public and private structures to reflect together on this proposal in order to continue the exchange around the many possibilities that the virtual space really offers , who will have to develop real content.

In this sense, he believed that the Metaverse, although new, is a tool that can be extremely powerful for preparing activities, initiating meetings, discovering professions, but also for communicating or collaborating with a real sense of presence with each other, and this at the same time as we maintain a very strong anchoring in our physical realities, because the idea is to have a new emotional and cognitive tool to improve this community and to do this together over time.

This idea “Francophonie in VR” can serve as a French-speaking reference of immersion from this debate itself against a very large knowledge base with all the technical, pedagogical information, monitoring, evaluation of materials, experiences, knowledge, etc.

This will enable the entire French-speaking community interested in immersion to find in one place the information they need to be able to understand this subject in the best possible conditions.

It is indeed a matter of drawing the future of this French-speaking virtual universe, which will give substance and continuity to this debate, with the aim of succeeding in exploiting these collective wills to build this new relationship with the world that this technology allows over time .

In addition, the idea of creating “a French-speaking digital space to highlight artists, creators, talents and technological startups, to promote our cultures, our stories, our diversity” was shared by several panelists.

Géraldine Bueken, president of the Brussels program XR4 Heritage (a program for the improvement of heritage based on the phygital use of new technologies) believed that the Metaverse actually offers a kind of complete world, where an arena of networks of characters is created around writings. can be nurtured by the public around a great creative potential. In his opinion, the world heritage of humanity, where several places are threatened or in danger, can be a starting point.

From this point of view, a competition with “Francophone heritage avatars” can be a starting point to see the invisible and unsung heroes of our collective history, which will allow everyone to discover a historical world from a new angle and which is not available . either in history books or in museums.

The main idea is to discover new talents and new narratives to develop and promote cultural experiences in accordance with social customs and the expectations of new generations.

Around the conviction of the role of the Digital Francophonie in the creation of a Metaverse ecosystem, especially from a point of view – societal, cultural, economic, technological, etc. – , several other Francophone projects in different sectors were presented to keep up to date with opportunities and innovations and to highlight the first experiments, immersive platforms, whether in Tunisia or in the French-speaking world.

These ideas and projects were presented at the conference “Metaverse and Cultural Creative Industries in the Digital Francophonie Era”, organized by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs through TICDCE in collaboration with the Francophone Employers’ Group, FIPA, CONECT, the French Institute for Tunisia, Wallonia Brussels in Tunisia and the DigiArt Living Lab, in the presence of several expert creators from the French-speaking community.

The debates focused on the challenges, opportunities and possibly the risks of this digital revolution, and this around three panels focused on the METAVERSE world, which, although the definitions are many until today, is described as the successor to the Internet, allowing to live more immersive experiences where time passes where everyone is connected to work, go out, eat, study, find loved ones…
