Business schools that renewed their accreditations in 2022

AMBA, AACSB, EQUIS… These accreditations are the holy grail for business schools as they give them international recognition. A symbol of excellence outside of France, it is important to place yourself in the rankings and attract foreign students, but also high-level international partners. We take stock of the schools that have renewed or obtained a new accreditation during the 2021-2022 school period.

Before revealing the list of business schools that have won over accrediting bodies, a little deciphering of the various acronyms, which are sometimes complex for the uninitiated.

AACSB accreditation

Provided by The Association to Advance Collegiate School of Business, AACSB is based on values such as the ethical behavior of the school and its actors or the establishment’s societal and responsible commitment, such as GEM, which is about CSR and equal opportunities. It also assesses institutions according to more objective criteria such as the ability to issue bachelor’s degrees, leadership or proper management of funds and HR. While 845 companies can proudly display this mark of quality around the world, only 23 French business schools are AACSB accredited for a period of 5 years.

EFMD accreditations

EFMD Accredited and EQUIS are two marks issued by EFMD, a non-profit organization whose aim is to promote excellence in management education through very strict control of organizations and courses. EQUIS is awarded to schools established more than 10 years ago, which offer management training and whose international reputation is well established. Among the main eligibility criteria: the governance, which must be independent, the strategic vision, the positioning, the quality of the program and its conformity with management practices today or the capacity of the school to be a viable economic actor. The evaluation process lasts approximately 3 years.

EFMD Accredited is awarded business school PGEs. This label is only issued to courses that can guarantee high-level training based on the learning of soft skills and with a strong international touch. Other key criteria: recognition from business and the training of responsible students with sensitivity to ethical issues.

AMBA accreditation

Delivered by the Association of MBAs, AMBA, as the name suggests, rewards MBAs, but also DBAs and MBMs. Recently AMBA also accredited the MiM (Master in Management) or PGE. Along with EQUIS and AACSB, this accreditation forms the highly regarded triple crown. Only 1% of business schools in the world have achieved this grail to date.

To obtain this accreditation, it is necessary to demonstrate a desire to recruit diversified profiles, the creation of space for discussion and reflection between the participants and the school, and the ability to be financially viable. The institution providing the MBA must also establish a transparent program where skills are clearly defined and measurable throughout the course. Only 270 schools have achieved this precious accreditation, including 20 in France.
