The 15 electric cars you must have at the Paris Motor Show

The Mondial de l’Auto in Paris opens its doors to journalists on Monday 17 October for the 2022 edition. Here are the 15 electric cars that should not be missed at this show.

After a four-year absence, the Mondial de l’Auto makes its grand return to Paris for this 2022 edition. This year, many brands are absent (Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Volkswagen, etc.), but the French manufacturers are well present …and the Chinese too! They intend to come to Europe en masse thanks to the electric car, and it is already being felt. Here is the list of 15 electric cars not to be missed during this 2022 Paris Motor Show.

BYD Atto 3

The Chinese giant BYD, the world’s number 2 in sales of electric cars behind Tesla, arrives in Europe and in particular France. Its model that should be talked about the most is the Atto 3, an electric SUV whose prices start at 38,000 euros. Enough to overshadow European competition!

But the Chinese manufacturer did not come with just one car. There will also be a long and luxurious Han sedan and the large Tang SUV. Two models that start from 72,000 euros, to compete with the big names in the field such as Tesla Model S and Model X.

Ora Funky Cat

We continue with a Chinese manufacturer, Great Wall Motors (GWM). The latter will exhibit the Ora Funky Cat, a compact electric car that could well overshadow the Fiat 500 or the Renault Mégane E-Tech. We had the opportunity to board and it is true that it does not leave anyone indifferent! It should arrive in France after Germany and the United Kingdom between the end of 2023 and 2024.

LeapMotor T03

The Chinese manufacturer LeapMotor arrives in France with the T03, a compact electric car that wants to compete with the Dacia Spring. It is rumored that the price will be around 20,000 euros. However, the manufacturer would not officially come with a distribution network, but through a French importer from Toulouse. Enough to test the French market.

XEV Yoyo

We continue with the Chinese manufacturers. The XEV Yoyo is a kind of Citroën Ami with a replaceable battery. However, it requires a B1 driver’s license, available from the age of 16, as it is a heavy quadricycle. A small car cut for the city and already available in France.

City Transformer CT-1

We stay in the microcar with the Israeli City Transformer CT-1, helped by the French from Segula Technologies. A very innovative electric car, as it is a foldable, or rather transformable, model. In fact, its modular architecture makes it possible to increase the width of the running gear from 1 m to 1.40 m. The speed is limited to 45 km/h in the first case or 90 km/h for the widest mode.

Microline

Microlino could be a hit. It is actually a heavy quadricycle, available with a B1 driving license from the age of 16. There is a fairly generous trunk for the size of the machine. Its unusual design and its two seats should please city dwellers.

Silence S04

We already know the Silence S01 scotter, which is excellent value for money. Now the Spanish brand will exhibit its electric minicar, the Silence S04. With two different versions: one limited to 45 km/h and which can be driven from the age of 14, and another, limited to 90 km/h, available with a B1 driving license from the age of 16. What will shadow the Citroën Ami. Its advantage: a portable battery to be recharged at home.

Jeep Avengers

That’s it, the first electric Jeep is finally here, in the form of a compact SUV for Europe! His name: Jeep Avenger. It will be marketed during the year 2023. It is not a question of a crossover Jeep, since it will be necessary to wait for the Jeep Recon, which should not be present in Paris.

In the other brands of Stellantis we find the Peugeot e-308, but also the Peugeot 408.

Fisherman Ocean

We continue on SUVs with the Fisker Ocean with its solar roof. We had already been able to get on board at the beginning of the year, but the version that will be shown at the Paris Motor Show was supposed to be top of the line, the Fisker Ocean Extreme. It is sold from 69,950 euros with 630 km of autonomy, or 41,900 euros for the version with 440 km of autonomy. Expected arrival in France in 2023.

VinFast VF 6 and VF 7

The Vietnamese brand VinFast intends to put pressure on European manufacturers at the Paris Motor Show with four electric cars: the VF 7 and VF 8, which we already know, but also the VF 6 and VF 7, with a format much more suitable for European format. A press conference will take place, perhaps to announce the arrival of the latter two in France.

Renault: return of the 4L and R5

Renault does not come empty-handed. The French manufacturer will exhibit its R5 Turbo 3E, which is supposed to be a taster of the future electric Renault 5. But also and above all an electric 4L concept. There will of course be the Scenic Vision concept, which we already know, just like the new Kangoo.

We can also mention the Mobilize Duo, which takes over from the Renault Twizzy.

Hydrogen cars

We close this overview with the two French hydrogen cars: Hopium Machina and NamX. The first is a sports sedan, while the second is a coupé SUV designed by Pininfarina.

However, it must be remembered that hydrogen cars do not seem to represent the future of transport. Hydrogen is more reserved for means of transport where the batteries are not optimal, such as air or sea transport. Although hydrogen also arrives quickly for long-distance road transport, with semi-trailers.

The six Chinese electric cars that will shake up the French market

Technologically competitive, cheaper, really ambitious… Chinese electric cars are coming. Chinese manufacturers have worried the industry for years, they are suddenly here. We have selected six cars that will characterize the French market.
