The fastest terminal in France has just been inaugurated in Normandy. It allows charging at 360 kW.

Imagine the time to get a cup of coffee at the gas station in a motorway service area where your electric car has gained as much autonomy as a thermal car. A dream that almost comes true. Indeed, this is what the first Yaway station, a charging network created by the energy company Kallista Energy, allows. Located in Normandy between Douains and Vernon, near the A13 and 80 km from Paris, this station benefits from the first two ABB Terra 360 terminals, to date, the most powerful in our territory. They allow charging at 360 kW, i.e. 10 kW more than the Ionity terminals and almost 100 kW more than the Tesla superchargers.

No car compatible with this power yet in France

The two terminals each have two charging points, but only one will be operational at first.

A force that can recover almost 500 km in less than a quarter of an hour… provided you have an electric car capable of it! Because today no model marketed in France accepts such a high power. On the podium above the cars that support the most kW, we find the duo Porsche Taycan / Audi e-tron GT with up to 270 kW at peak and the Tesla Model 3 with 250 kW. Substantial forces which already make it possible to recover almost 300 km in 20 minutes, but which do not yet compete with the filling time of a thermomobile.

Despite this discrepancy, the terminals installed by Kallista are nevertheless operational for all electric cars recalls Vanessa Bisconti-Cateau, director of ABB E-mobility: ” This ABB Terra 360 terminal, in addition to its unique power on the market, is compatible with all electric vehicles and has an innovative design and ergonomics. Its 5 meter long cable is suitable for all configurations to adapt to parking spaces and car designs.»

Because although this first station is a pilot plant for the energy company, it is intended to be replicated. ” DOES NOTOur Vernon-Douains pilot station is the first step towards the rollout of our network of 90 very high power charging stations across France. In particular, it will allow us to take advantage of user feedback to offer the best service to motorists, regardless of the make and model of their vehicle. explains Johann Tardy, CEO of Kallista Energy.

Cheap electricity supplied by wind turbines

The station was inaugurated on 22 September in the presence of officials.

The Vernon-Douains station is already available and billing its charges per minute (€0.605/min) and has two charging points, which will then increase to 4 (2 per terminal). Kallista plans to open up to 48 charging points at its future stations, depending on demand and the possibilities of connection to its wind turbines. Each station must be connected to two wind turbines, which are operated by the energy company. A model that will eventually make it possible to offer customers cheap electricity thanks to the proximity to the production source. A configuration that the Vernon-Douain pilot site will not benefit from due to its proximity to an air base.
