Chassis, connector, screen of the Asus VivoBook 14 S1400EA-EK1676W
Thanks to its thin and bright black design, this versatile laptop has a discreet appearance.
It is equipped with good connectivity options including 1 USB-C, a practical HDMI video output to easily connect it to a TV or monitor for example, Wi-Fi ac and Bluetooth 4.1 modules for wireless remote connections and communication. cable, an audio port or even 3 USBs, all compatible with USB 2.0 and USB 3.0, USB 3.0 guarantees transfers that take place up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 if a USB 3.0 device is connected to it.
Those who regularly enter numbers will be pleased that Asus offers its NumPad technology here (NumberPad), which, when activated, turns the touchpad into a tactile numeric keypad.
As a reminder, all laptops in the form factor smaller than 15 inches do not have a physical numeric keypad due to lack of space on the right.
Thanks to its 16:9 format and precise Full HD definition, the screen is suitable for displaying videos and wider High Definition content. Since it is anti-reflective, the screen is also more readable than a shiny panel in a bright environment (e.g. outside).
Performance, autonomy of the Asus VivoBook 14 S1400EA-EK1676W
The Asus VivoBook 14 S1400EA-EK1676W is a compact High Definition laptop intended for general daily use.
It benefits from silent SSD storage, but also less energy than a hard drive, more robust and much faster.
In practice, the SSD guarantees much better responsiveness and agility on a daily basis than a simple hard drive, which means for example much faster start/stop and launch of applications, or even a faster arrival on the game cards in line.
Although there is no dedicated graphics card on board, we were actually able to view photos and videos, but also indulge in light games thanks to the Intel UHD G4 graphics module integrated into the processor.
The latter is a low-power Intel Tiger Lake Core i3-1115G4. It is here paired with 8GB of RAM to provide good performance in daily use such as office automation and internet surfing.
However, remember that under software that requires processor resources, the Core i3-1115G4 reveals its limits, like AMD Ryzen 3 and obviously less powerful processors.
What about storage capacity? It’s a 512GB SSD offered here that represents the standard among hard drives. You can’t expect better at this price point. But if you need more space, you can add an extra SSD or a hard drive via the free 2.5 inch slot. Or even use an external storage device such as a USB-C / USB 3.0 device to take advantage of fast transfers.
As for the autonomy of this versatile Ultrabook, whose transport is facilitated by its lightness, compactness and finesse, you should expect about 5 hours of battery with light use.
