Telefónica and Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. announced a collaboration to strengthen their leadership position in the future of XR and Metaverse.

Together, they will work to develop and grow the XR ecosystem by leveraging the Snapdragon Spaces™ XR developer platform and Telefónica’s advanced fixed and mobile network infrastructure. The agreement also includes exploring joint business opportunities and launching XR/metaverse products and services. Telefónica sees many opportunities in the combination of immersive devices with powerful networks and decentralized Web3 technologies. This agreement paves the way for new experiences for customers by merging the digital and analogue worlds, recreating trade, entertainment and communication in the Metaverse. Qualcomm Technologies introduced Snapdragon Spaces, a platform that enables developers to unlock the full potential of wearable AR through advanced technology, a cross-device development kit and an open XR ecosystem. Developers can create innovative experiences that will drive the next generation of immersive technologies. In this regard, both companies are working to integrate the Snapdragon space with various initiatives that are part of the Telefónica Innovation and Talent Hub, such as its grassroots and open innovation programs and 42 computer programming campuses. This will help develop the Snapdragon Spaces ecosystem and promote the development of new products and services on XR that Telefónica can test and market to its residential and business customers.
