Volkswagen ID. Buzz wins the 2023 Utility of the Year award!

On the sidelines of the IAA Transportation fair in Hannover, the Volkswagen ID. Buzz has just won the prize for tool of the year (International Van of the Year) 2023!

Even before the official market launch, the new Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo has just been awarded the prestigious award “International Van of the Year 2023” (IVOTY)which rewards best utility vehicle of the year. This award was presented at the “Stars of the Year” opening ceremony of the Verband der Automobilindustrie (VDA), the German association of the automotive industry, on the sidelines of the opening of IAA Transport Fair in Hannover.

Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo: a prestigious jury

IVOTY Chairman Jarlath Sweeney presented the award on behalf of the prestigious IVOTY Jury, made up of 34 international commercial vehicle journalists: “It is not often that a completely new van concept comes and gets so much attention on the market. Congratulations to the development team at Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles for creating this unique vehicle”he said on this occasion.

Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo received 110 dots, just 10 points ahead of its nearest competitor, the new Ford Pro E-Transit. Renault Kangoo E-Tech Van, Nissan Townstar Zero-Emission and Mercedes-Benz eCitan shared third place: this year the podium consists entirely of electric utility vehicles. Other shortlisted contenders also included Fiat Professional’s new Doblò and Scudo.

Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo: more than 13,700 orders

Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo thus replaces the Renault Kangoo Van and Mercedes-Benz eCitan, which won the 2022 International Van of the Year (IVOTY) award last year. This is the 31st.th time when this election takes place for the best commercial vehicle of the year: this year the jury evaluated the contribution of the candidate cars to the efficiency, safety, durability and environmental standards of light utility companies in the vehicle sector. To be eligible, the candidate car must be new, in series production at the end of the year for which it receives the award, and present a significant technological innovation.

To date, Volkswagen ID. Buzz busy more than 13,700 orders, half of which for the Cargo version. The model pays homage to the mythical Combi, but was developed exclusively to be equipped with a 100% electric motor: it thus joins the family of 100% electric ID models from the Volkswagen brand. It will also be delivered to its customers with a neutral carbon footprint.
