Ford and Alpha Ford nominate Tibu Africa for $10,000 Global Caring Month grant
Ford employees in Tunisia are participating in the automaker’s Global Caring Month – a 30-day focus on community service that takes place in September each year.
It is in this sense that Alpha Ford employees participated in the organization of the “Ford x Tibu Summer Camp”. An initiative that targeted almost 100 families living in disadvantaged areas in El Mourouj, Cité Ettadhamen and Fouchana, by organizing activities focused on developing skills, such as robotics, coding, sports activities, art, leadership workshops and foreign languages. The goal is to give young people and their families better access to activities and events that ensure their progress, liberation and integration through sport and culture. To this end, parents were also invited to attend developmental workshops to learn how to communicate with their children to unlock their potential.
Every September, the company’s philanthropic arm, the Ford Motor Company Fund, brings together employees to support humanitarian efforts in Ford communities around the world that face food insecurity, poor access to sanitation and education, housing or other basic daily needs. Employees plan and coordinate community service projects, and Ford provides funding to nonprofit organizations for the tools and supplies needed to carry out many activities.
This year, Ford awarded more than $895,000 to 126 employee-nominated nonprofit and non-governmental organizations in 30 countries around the world as part of this annual initiative.
“Ford’s Global Caring Month is designed to empower employees in meaningful ways to strengthen communities and make a difference in people’s lives,” said Hajar Dinar, director of communications for Ford North and Sub-Saharan Africa. “We are delighted with the partnership we have built with Tibu Africa. A partnership through which we are today in Tunisia for this initiative, which allows Ford employees to help young people within the framework of the Ford x Tibu Summer Camp and will help provide them with a better environment for learning and personal development,” said added Mrs. Dinar.
Mr. Marouane Ben Jemaa, Chairman and CEO of Alpha Ford, said “ As an official Ford distributor in Tunisia, we are proud to participate in this action, which aims to support these young people and their families. Our employees are strongly committed when it comes to actions that serve the communities in which we are present. As part of this magnificent project, initiated by Ford, they mobilized to support children during these two days.“.
“I would like to thank corporate citizen Ford for giving us the opportunity to introduce more children from working-class neighborhoods to sport and to sign them up to the paths of success thanks to a policy of education through sport. », says Mohamed Amine Zariat, Ashoka Fellow and president of the NGO Tibu Africa. He also pointed that out “The Tibu Africa team is proud to participate with the Ford Fund in the transmission of sporting and human values, namely respect, humility, trust, courage and sharing through the establishment of a sports camp and training in El Mourouj – Tunis” .
