what does Indiana Jones 5 and Star Wars have in store for us?

This weekend saw the famous D23, the convention dedicated to future Disney projects. In addition to the Marvel or Disney/Pixar section, we must of course count on Lucasfilm (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Willow). News, trailers, and juicy elements have been revealed, for series projects as well as for a certain long-awaited movie!

Kathleen Kennedy was able to start hostilities with Star warsbut the highlight of this private presentation was Indiana Jones 5. In fact, Harrison Ford took to the stage to present a very first trailer. Probably moved, Ford clarified that it was indeed the famous archaeologist’s very last adventure with the whipand that this time (as opposed to Crystal Skull Kingdom so) he was proud of the result. Beautiful promises, while director James Mangold (Logan, Le Mans 66) and Phoebe Waller-Bridge (flea bag, To kill Eve) joined him on stage.

Unfortunately, no title has been revealed yet, but the aforementioned famous trailer would have everyone agree: action-packed, he takes Indy and his goddaughter Helena around the globe, especially in Italy, the Middle East or on parade in the Big Apple. Flashbacks with striking digital rejuvenation of Ford, a Nazi Madds Mikkelsen, a horse chase in the New York subway, an Indy capable of whipping a dozen armed thugs… We naturally hope that this tantalizing trailer will land soon, because this 5. adventure as much hoped for as feared. See you on June 28, 2023 in cinemas!

As a bonus, John Williams shared the very first track from the soundtrack (which will probably be his last composition): Helena’s theme music!

Another iconic return

Next, a trailer has been revealed online for the series Arrowafter the cult film of the same name released in 1988. Warwick Davies returns to the title role: the famous wizard Nelwyn will oversee a new generation of heroes, while in the cast we find some semi-known heads like Erin Kellyman (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier), Ellie Bamber (Nocturnal animals), Tony Revolori (Grand Budapest Hotel), or even Christian Slater (Mr. Robot). No Madmartigan (Val Kilmer) as I said, but the artistic direction seems chiade, via a production that combines practical effects, animatronics and quality CGI! See you on November 30th on Disney+ !

Of course, the Star Wars galaxy is always in the spotlight, although unfortunately there are no movie announcements (Rogue Squadron, Waititi’s Star Wars) on the agenda. Kennedy prefers to take his time (a bad thing for a good thing) and point out the projects

Of course, The Star Wars galaxy is also in the spotlight : Kathleen Kennedy nevertheless prefers to focus on the series, and no movie announcements (Rogue Squadron, Waititi’s Star Wars) was made. A blessing in disguise as Lucasfilm cooks quietly taking its time with interesting projects on Disney+ nonetheless. Primarily, The bad batch will be eligible for its season 2, continues the chronicles of Clone Force 99. This season begins in January 2023, while the trailer for Tales of the Jedi : an anthology of six animated shorts focusing primarily on Ahshoka and Count Dooku, scheduled for October 26 on Disney+.

Andor, the new hope

Series Andordeveloped by Tony Gilroy (Rogue one) and described as a spy thriller in the Star Wars universe, was graced with a final trailer. The opportunity to once again admire a rather admirable work of design production, preferring to move away from the cheap deserts of Obi-Wan Kenobito explore in a darker way the birth of the Rebellion before the events of Rogue one and A new hope. The first 3 episodes start on September 24.for what promises to be a 2-season adventure (ie 16 episodes), spread over 2 intra-diegetic years: a good show!

Unfortunately no information regarding The acolytethis series takes place 200 years before the phantom menace, while a young heroine (played by Amandla Stenberg) will be part of a Sith tournament after her family is massacred. According to some rumors, the martial art of lightsaber wielding will be at the center of the show (much to our happiness) whose showrunner is Leslye Headland (Russian doll). We find in the cast Lee Jyung-jae (Play octopus, Hunt) and Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim, Without any remorse), in roles that are still mysterious (like the series).

Nevertheless, the series Skeleton Crew by Jon Watts (Spider-Man no way home) revealed a first image. A close-up of Jude Law certainly skimpy on detail, but a picture nonetheless. As a reminder, this series features 4 children on a perilous journey to return home (the show will be childish, however, according to Watts!).

Star Wars: The Mandalorian returns

However, the highlight of the show remains The Mandalorianthat sees a hierarchical change: yes, Jon Favreau leaves his place to Rick Famuyiwa (director of the very likable Dopeand very good episodes of the series like “The Child” or “The Prisoner”) as showrunner. A trailer rich with Mandalorians, in Grogu kawai and with a small appearance of Babu Frik. No release date, but we can reasonably hope for a summer release.

The Mandalorian Season 3 will air on Disney+ in 2023
