ASUS announces pricing and availability for its foldable laptop, the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED

ASUS today announced that the acclaimed Zenbook 17 Fold OLED (UX9702), the first laptop with a foldable 17.3-inch OLED display, will be available worldwide starting at $3,999 during the fourth quarter. 20224.

Unveiled at CES earlier this year, the ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED is an Intel Evo-certified portable foldable display. It offers users two sizes of OLED panels in one device: a 4:3 17.3-inch 2.5K large touch screen (FOLED) that folds in half to form two 3:2 12.5-inch 1920 x 1280px screens. When fully closed along the 180° precision hinge, tested to withstand over 30,000 opening and closing cycles, it transforms into an ultra-compact and portable 12.5-inch device smaller than a sheet of A4 paper.

The many ways of use: desktop, laptop (with Bluetooth keyboard), laptop (with virtual keyboard), tablet, reading stand and large screen are made possible by the foldable design combined with the Bluetooth keyboard and touchpad ASUS Large ErgoSense. In addition, each screen can be split into multiple windows and the content arranged using the smart window management feature in named apps ASUS ScreenXpert 3 and exclusive Mode Switcher. Despite its versatility and large screen size, the device weighs only 1.5 kg without keyboard and 1.8 kg with keyboard.

The foldable OLED touchscreen, which has a 0.2ms response time and 60Hz refresh rate, comes with a four-speaker Dolby Atmos audio system certified by Harman Kardon. This Dolby Vision certified monitor has 100% DCI-P3 color gamut and is also PANTONE validated for color accuracy. Finally, it is TÜV Rheinland certified for reducing harmful blue light.

Zenbook 17 Fold OLED includes several AI-powered smart features, including user presence detection using an HD infrared camera, built-in color sensor for automatic brightness and screen color temperature, and a 5 MP AI webcam with technology ASUS 3D Noise Reduction (3DNR) for clearer video calls.

On the performance side, we find the latest 12th generation Intel Core i7-1250U processor, the Intel Iris Xe graphics card, 16 GB of RAM and a fast 1 TB PCIe SSD For the connection part, there are two USB-C Thunderbolt ports 4 compatible with fast charging of the long-lasting 75 Wh battery, as well as connections for external displays.

A really useful keyboard

L’ASUS Zenbook 17 Fold OLED is equipped with a keyboard (19.05 mm key distance, 1.4 mm key activation distance, 0.2 mm curvature) and a full-size ErgoSense Bluetooth touchpad that allows use in the following modes: desktop, laptop (with Bluetooth keyboard), laptop (with virtual keyboard), tablet, reading stand or large screen. Within each mode, window management tools such as the Mode Switcher in the ScreenXpert 3 application enable multiple split screen configurations and flexible application layouts.

In desktop mode, the unfolded 17.3-inch display, propped up in landscape orientation using the built-in leatherette kickstand, can be used with the wirelessly connected ErgoSense keyboard and touchpad to create a powerful PC big screen for unparalleled productivity . As part of portable mode (with Bluetooth keyboard) on the go, the keyboard attaches magnetically when placed on the bottom half of the folded screen. In addition, the bottom screen in laptop mode (with virtual keyboard) can be turned into a virtual on-screen keyboard.

Tablet mode takes full advantage of the touch functions on the fully open 17.3-inch screen, while in reading or viewing mode the hinge is aligned vertically for better content viewing. Finally, in widescreen mode, that is in portrait orientation, the two folded 12.5-inch screens are perfect for allowing the top and bottom screens to be scrolled smoothly. Thus, the Zenbook 17 Fold OLED can be connected to an external display via one of the two USB-C Thunderbolt 4 ports.

L’ASUS The Zenbook 17 Fold OLED (UX9702) will be available in the 4th quarter of 2022 and will start at €3,999.
