ONE black and white los angeles police car, two SWAT cars… but also a yellow school bus, fire trucks. It will be heavy, Sunday 18 September 2022, from 8:30 a.m. 3, La Hausse in Captieux, on the edge of the RN 524. The American Police Car Association, created in March 2022, will exhibit its American vehicles for its first exhibition and car exchange. Free entry and open to all.

“We expect 200 American cars on the day, explains Nicolas Malveau, president of US Police Cars, in collaboration with the gendarmerie and the national police, who will have a stand. »

200 vehicles are expected

The association of Captieux US Police Cars will organize the first edition of its exhibition of old and American vehicles and its stock exchange on Sunday, September 18, along the RN 524. 200 American vehicles are expected.
There will be a refreshment bar and restaurant on site with the Road 524 food truck (an American school bus).
The association Pompiers du Monde de Langon will offer entertainment for children around a forest fire engine. With a helmet and a leather jacket, the little ones can learn to put out flames… made of cardboard.

The purpose of the association is securing the legacy of law enforcement and civilian security forces. Its volunteers have just renovated a blue 4L, which comes from the Angoulême gendarmerie. They also have an old SAMU car, old gendarmerie equipment (rotating lights, euro laser scopes, uniforms, etc.), police, CRS.

Where does this passion for American police cars come from? “I had a car workshop in Preignac,” says Nicolas Malveau. I was asked to repair municipal police cars, civil protection…”

One day I called a sheriff’s office in Los Angeles to ask if he had a police car for sale. He had a car in a barn. His colleagues had offered him for his retirement. I brought it back with container. It’s a 1993 Ford Crown Victoria. It took us a year to restore it.

“Our goal is to open a museum”

The association also presents a Dodge with a body from SWAT of Los Angeles, a US police Chevrolet Tahoe “which belonged to the Los Angeles Police Chief”. To become a member of US Police Cars, one must have an American car or be in law enforcement or retired from law enforcement.

Nicolas Malveau says that there are 36 American police cars in France. This enthusiast went from the Majorette police car to the full size American car. “When I was 18, I was a cadet with the firefighters in La Réole,” he adds. Then I was a fireman for two years at the Baza barracks. I am now with Civil Protection of Talence and repairman at AMS in Langon. »

Together with other volunteers from the association and firefighters from all over the world, he also drove fire trucks to Saint-Magne to extinguish fumaroles, in collaboration with DFCI (Forest Fire Protection in Aquitaine).
