This extreme racing car is a single seater with a closed cockpit with a particularly futuristic look. Aerodynamically, the appearance of the McLaren Solus GT is characterized by a fairing at the level of the wheels, a huge front splitter glued to the road, an air scoop on the roof, a large fixed wing, a diffuser and even a canopy that can slide. door protecting the only central seat.

Based on a carbon fiber monocoque chassis, the McLaren Solus GT is also based on 3D printed titanium components. The car weighs under 1,000 kilos and rides on 18-inch forged aluminum wheels fitted with center-lock nuts. These same rims can fit slick and wet tires that comply with LMP (Le Mans Prototype) regulations. Braking, meanwhile, is handled by six-piston machined aluminum monobloc calipers. Brake discs and pads are made of carbon.

A V10 engine that exceeds 10,000 rpm

To power the wheels of this Solus GT, the Woking firm equips it with a 5.2 V10 engine which is “an integral part of the chassis”. This engine develops 840 horsepower and 650 Nm of torque. Combined with a seven-speed sequential gearbox, this block is capable of reaching a speed of more than 10,000 rpm, and above all, it allows the McLaren Solus GT to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 2.5 seconds. The top speed exceeds 320 km/h.
