Ghost of Tsushima: success over the magazine

So what’s up with the latest big PS4 exclusive? The result is quite mixed. On the one hand, the title exudes, visually solid, a change of scenery on every floor and its surroundings just waiting to be explored. Everything is further supported by a GPS system controlled by the wind, which, if not flawless, has the advantage of having the player look ahead instead of a minimap. But it is after a few hours that we feel something shaky. Already at the level of combat, some surprising choices, such as the impossibility of seeing the number of ammo on certain weapons at a glance, weigh down the whole. Especially the fights, they are a bit too much at the heart of Ghost of Tsushima. Almost all of the missions, whether secondary or primary, require clearing a camp, which the player will already have plenty of opportunity to do during his walks. It’s all not helped by the writing, rather poor and mechanical, which does hold some glimmers (especially regarding Jin, the hero’s slow transformation). In short, we very often do the same thing, and what we learn there is not exciting. A slightly bitter aftertaste emerges that fades when the title frees our hands, but returns when we fall back on a quest or another camp to clean up. The game Sucker Punch is nevertheless enjoyable to browse and complete (15 hours straight for the main quest). But it’s not a slap. Rather, a hand extended to feudal Japan, which we will gladly accept.

Detroit: Become Human is the synthesis of all the knowledge that Quantic Dream has developed over 20 years in its field. With high-flying performance, breathless pacing, and above all, a simply bewildering amount of variables that will make you watch entire parts of the game or not, Detroit lives up to its promise of letting the player write their story. Sometimes epic, often moving and dramatic, Detroit just needs a little more finesse in the writing and a little more personal treatment of the singularity theme to really take off. However, it remains an excellent experience that we recommend you do and redo to capture all the depth and all the nuances. A great success and a true demonstration of power.

Although the Dark Knight still sits atop the superhero video game adaptation, Insomniac’s Spider-Man already portends a bright future for the franchise and, by extension, Weaver fans. Fitting perfectly into the mold of recent Sony productions, the Californian title created a sensation on all levels. Beautiful, playable, exciting, surprising, even moving, Spider-Man proves to be the game that all fans have been waiting for. From a formula that you might have thought was hollowed out, the developers have truly designed a balanced, entertaining game that offers a tremendous sense of freedom and power. It’s clear that biting into the big apple has never been so delicious, and if there are indeed more bugs, we’re already looking forward to the new pick, which should be even tastier. We trust Insomniac, who seems to have understood everything about the character, having grasped its entire essence, as was the case a few years ago with Rocksteady and a certain Batman.

Horizon Forbidden West in its collector’s version

Starting from an already very good first episode, Horizon Forbidden West hits the stars and becomes a true culmination for the Guerrilla Games studio formula, but also for the “classic” open world genre in general. Fascinating from start to finish, with a universe with lavish artistic direction, better written and directed, and more engaging from a combat and exploration point of view, the title is almost impeccable in everything he does, showing attention to detail in every moment. In addition, Horizon Forbidden West even has the luxury of being both excellent on PS5, PS4 Pro but also PS4 Fat, thanks to exemplary work across generations. We can only regret a final conclusion that was sent a little quickly and a lack of major new features. Not enough to spoil the wonderful adventure that awaits in the forbidden West. A truly unique title.
