The ranking of the best MBAs in the world 2022 according to the FT

The American media, The Financial Times, has revealed its 2022 ranking of the best MBAs in the world and, unsurprisingly, American business schools are present in force. This year, a French school regains its precious place on the podium. Zoom in on the top 100 MBAs in the world without further ado.

The 2022 Financial Times ranking lists the top 100 full-time MBAs in the world. A total of 151 business schools participated in the 2022 edition. All participating schools met the FT admissions criteria and are EQUIS or AACSB accredited.

Andrew Crisp, director of education consultancy CarringtonCrisp, emphasized that business schools will continue to evolve as new digital training tools develop. “International, entrepreneurship, technology, sustainability are the keywords and trending words lately. It is absolutely essential that the MBA adapts to the changing world. If he doesn’t, he will be in a very difficult position. »

Methodology for the 2022 MBA ranking according to the FT

To achieve its ranking, the Financial Times contacts former students three years after obtaining their MBA. For a school to appear on the list, FT requires a response from a minimum of 20% of candidates with at least 20 fully completed questionnaires.

This year, due to disruption due to the Covid-19 crisis, the FT considered schools with a lower response rate than last year. A total of 7,138 graduates in 2018 responded to the survey, a response rate of 34%. This contributed 61% of the overall score given to the company. Data collected from schools makes up 21%. The research criterion (which corresponds to the number of articles published in about 50 high-level scientific journals) counts for 10%.

For some criteria, FT evens out the results. For severance pay, the medium thus deletes the highest and lowest salary from the data. Likewise, the ranking does not take into account the amount earned by those working for NGOs, in the public sector or students full time.

Astronomical salaries for MBA graduates in the US have led US business schools to the top positions in the 2022 FT rankings after a year marked by high demand for MBAs and a context disrupted by the pandemic.

The University of Pennsylvania, Wharton and Columbia are first and second respectively in the ranking. INSEAD, the French business school also present in Singapore, is in third place. Among the other French establishments, we find HEC Paris in 11th place, emlyon in 89th place and EDHEC in 73rd place.

Three years after graduation, graduates of the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania would earn the highest annual salary in 2021 ($238,000). The combined average salary for alumni of the 100 schools in the rankings this year is $161,000.
