SPIE opens applications for the 2023 edition of its Prism Awards competition, which rewards innovative products in photonics

The annual awards ceremony will be held on 1 February at SPIE Photonics West

BELLINGHAM, Washington, July 27, 2022–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Nominations are open from today until September 15, 2022 to compete for the SPIE Prism Awards, which will celebrate their 15th year.e anniversary in 2023 at SPIE Photonics West. Organized annually by SPIE, the International Society for Optics and Photonics, the awards celebrate and recognize the increasing number of technical innovations in optics and photonics products on the market today.

The semi-finalists will be announced online in November, while the award ceremony will be the subject of an elegant gala scheduled for February 1, 2023, as part of the SPIE Photonics West show. Photonics Media is the media sponsor of the event.

Winners of last year’s Prism Awards in categories including areas ranging from transport and quantum technologies to laser science, sensing and biomedicine included Luxexcel, PlenOptika, Lumotive, SWIR Vision Systems, LightPath Technologies, Zemax, Civan Lasers, BRELYON, Stuttgart Instruments and ColdQuanta. Past winners have included then-new companies or startups such as Double Helix Optics, PhotoniCare, Luminar, Blackmore and WaveOptics, as well as already established industry giants such as General Electric, IPG Photonics, Edmund Optics and Leica.

Any product in photonics or use of photonics and launched between the 2022 edition of SPIE Photonics West (January 22-27) and the end of September 2022 can apply. If a product was launched before 2022, it may still be eligible to apply based on its current market position.
