god of war

We’ll start without getting too wet with a PlayStation classic that deserves your attention if you haven’t already. While its sequel, God of War: Ragnarok, arrives in a few months (November 9), this is the right opportunity to catch up with Kratos’ first adventure accompanied by his son Atreus, as God of War is €9.99 at the moment. Also, if you have a PS5, we remind you that a patch to take advantage of the console’s technical capabilities was implemented some time ago to make the game even more visually impressive. And if by some miracle you’ve never heard of this title, know that it’s a beat’em up, a game where you face a lot of enemies, in a (semi-)open world that takes place in Norse mythology. After his wife’s death, Kratos travels with his son Atreus to scatter his wife’s ashes on the world’s highest mountain. Along the way, they will meet many figures from the Nordic pantheon, while the plot is heavily dependent on the father-son relationship.

Persona 5 Royal

If you are on holiday, you certainly have time to immerse yourself in a relatively long adventure, which is impossible for you to complete on a daily basis. For this reason, summer is a good time to play J-RPGs, Japanese-style role-playing games that often have a lifespan of several dozen hours, which are not always compatible with everyday life. Thereby, you might be tempted to launch Persona 5 Royal, which currently costs €20.99 on the PlayStation Store. Admittedly, we’re a little over budget, but it’s for a good cause. Although the title is clearly one of the best J-RPGs on PS4, if not of its generation, it puts you in the shoes of a high school student who arrives in Tokyo and will face strange phenomena. . Accompanied by companions encountered along the way, the player alternates between managing his daily life as a student and exploring dungeons with more classic but highly effective turn-based combat. With its sublime anime aesthetic, its incredible soundtrack and its rich gameplay, you’ll understand why we highly recommend Persona 5 Royal for this summer. Afterwards, we can always advise you to wait for the game to be released on Xbox Game Pass and on Switch this fall, but maybe you’ll have less time to devote to video games at that point…

It takes two

Once again, we will not get too wet from this proposal since‘It Takes Two is simply the title voted the best game of the year 2021 at the Game Awards ceremony. Still, you might have missed out on this experience because this isn’t a big-budget triple-A blockbuster. Here we follow the adventures of Cody and May, a couple on the verge of divorce who are turned into dolls after their daughter finds a mysterious book and wishes that her parents would not separate. As the name suggests, It Takes Two is a game played exclusively by two players whose entire interest is based on cooperation. A perfect experience, so if you want to play with a friend or your companion this summer. Throughout its original adventure, the title teems with endearing characters, clever puzzles and striking sequences that explain how the latter was named GOTY 2021. And then, since it’s reduced to €19.99 on the PlayStation Store, you’d be wrong to miss out yourself from it.

Eternal doom

Well, it’s obvious that Doom Eternal isn’t the best game to cool down as we still see the flames of hell being unleashed on Earth. For €15.99, this direct sequel to 2016’s Doom puts us back in the shoes of Doomguy, setting out to face legions of demons. so they leave our beautiful blue planet. Unlike the first episode, the title here is more technical, and sometimes even more difficult, giving it a slightly different approach. In any case, we are facing the champion of fast FPS, that is, first-person shooters that go particularly fast. So don’t expect to relax in front of this title, but instead to hang and brace yourself on your controller to follow the frenetic gameplay in this relaxing experience.

Disco Elysium

How about getting back to reading this summer? Because that’s what it offers Disco Elysium: The Final Cut, the gem of C-RPG (Role playing computerRPG on PC Wholesale) which is finally coming in French and on consoles and currently costs less than €20. Very far from the genre’s cult titles like Baldur’s Gate or Fallout (the first two, not the ones from Bethesda), here we play a drunk police inspector with amnesia who wakes up in a hotel room without really knowing why. You quickly understand that you will have to investigate in a city plagued by strikes and riots. With very high level writing, Disco Elysium is a highly political and captivating title where dialogue choices are omnipresent to create your own adventure. This is all the more true since at the start of the game you can define the characteristics of your anonymous inspector who will or will not allow you to perform certain actions later in the adventure. A perfect title for the holidays, where you can take the time to read and immerse yourself in a unique universe with such an original approach.
