Krypto and the Super-Animals: The US Box Office… $2.2M in Thursday Previews!

Poof, poof poof, poof? Yesterday, during the Thursday previews, Krypto and the super animals grossed $2.2 million in US theaters. However, it should be noted that the sessions began at 14.00! (How long ago was the time of the midnight session. The last one took place ten years ago, with the release of The Dark Knight Rises.) To compare : The Bad Guys (1.15 million); The new heroes (1.4 million); LEGO Batman: The Movie (2.2 million); Spider-Man: The Next Generation (3.5 million); Buzz Lightning (5.2 million). With this amount, which will no doubt serve as pocket money for Dwayne Johnson, Superman’s super dog should end the weekend with just over $20 million. We feel it’s the holidays, hard to get the numbers… For its first day of operation in France, Krypto and the super animals totaled more than 90,565 spectators (including the 27,222 concessions made during the previews on Sunday). If we limit ourselves to Marvel/DC Comics animation, it’s less than The new heroes (124,979 registrations), but more than LEGO Batman: The Movie (74,867 records) and Spider-Man: The Next Generation (47,597 entries). Not bad, especially since it’s *not* the worst superhero start of the year, Morbius is 76,801 registrations. Therefore, if he does not do better than Baymax (1,710,483 records), Superman’s dog will try to overtake the Bat (854,163 records) and the Spider (788,767 records) at the end of his career. We wish him the best of luck… and we’ll see you tomorrow for the first US box offices!

Superhero animation isn’t popular in France, and it’s apparently not going to change today… At 2 p.m Krypto and the super animals gathered 1,000 spectators in theaters all over the capital.
