A cult JRPG, the return of Digimon… This week’s Nintendo Switch releases

Game news A cult JRPG, the return of Digimon… This week’s Nintendo Switch releases

It’s the start of a new week, and the least we can say is that it’s shaping up to be pretty busy on the Nintendo Switch. Between the arrival of the anticipated Xenoblade Chronicles 3, the return of Pokémon’s historic competitor and an Animal Crossing bed and breakfast version, there will be something for everyone.

Azure Striker GUNVOLT 3

Six years after the release of Azure Striker GUNVOLT II, the Gunvolt series returns to center stage with a third installment. You’ll have to be wide awake to take up arms and keep up with the pace Azure Striker Gunvolt 3. Like its predecessors, this opus offers “ultra-fast” action through varied 2D tables and above all full of enemies to defeat. Of course, if you find Gunvolt, the main character of the series, he won’t be alone. Kirin, his new star, accompanies him. As you can imagine, it will be possible to switch from one to the other mid-fight to take advantage of their different abilities, offering two different gameplays. Because if Gunvolt is a fan of lightning bolts and other superpowers, Kirin masters fencing like no other. Suffice to say, this new opus promises to be more boosted than ever.

Bear and breakfast

Do you want a quieter and more relaxing experience? Featured during the Devs Conference’s Summer Game Fest Day, Bear and breakfast released this week on Nintendo Switch in particular. As you might have guessed from the name, this independent title allows you to manage a gîte, all in the shoes of a bear. The latter is called Hank and lives a quiet life in the forest. It was when he came across an abandoned cabin with his friends that he decided to embark on this adventure. Renovation, interior design and other improvements… We will spare no expense to do this bed and breakfast friendly and profitable. Of course, you can count on help from the inhabitants of the forest, as long as you do them some favors. If you are adventurous enough to unravel the mysteries of the forest, your adventure should even take a completely different turn.

Koumajou Remilia: Scarlet Symphony

You will take a small remaster. Safe, Koumajou Remilia: Scarlet Symphony doesn’t have the same aura as Live A Live (whose remaster was released last week), but the release of its remaster more than 10 years after its initial release is still a remarkable event that will please some. It was in 2009 that Frontier Aja decided to reveal to us this Castlevania-style action-adventure game inspired by the Touhou Project universe. Today, CFK is at the forefront of offering us an improved version with especially HD graphics. As a reminder, in Koumajou Remilia: Scarlet Symphony you play as Reimu Hakurei in the small town of Gensokyo. The latter has been experiencing strange phenomena recently and sees the catastrophic “Red Mist” spreading through the streets. Your mission? Find the source of evil and fight it to save Gensokyo.

Digimon survives

In 1997, a small electronic gadget landed on the market. It allowed you to raise and fight small animals, and not just any: Digimon. Thus was launched the franchise, sometimes viewed as a rival, sometimes as a little sister to Nintendo’s Pokémon. Then there was anime, merchandise and a good scoop of video games that managed to find a specific audience. If we count, this Digimon empire took its first steps 25 years ago. A quarter of a century is worth celebrating, and the celebration takes place this week with the release of Digimon survives. In the program: turn-based combat, typical movements of a tactical-RPG, a hundred Digimon to find and above all a darker and more mature subject. Note that the last two games in the franchise, Digimon Linkz and Digimon ReArise, were released three years ago in Europe, only on mobiles.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3

We end this week’s Nintendo Switch releases with one of the Big N’s giants for this year 2022: Xenoblade Chronicles 3. The new opus in this legendary series in the JRPG world, announced during a Nintendo Direct at the beginning of the year, had caused great enthusiasm. And after being able to get our hands on the game for a few hours, our interest only grew. As part of our preview, we actually discovered a darker story, more dynamic gameplay, and an amazing adventure to live. Even the disappointing screen resolution wasn’t enough to dampen our enjoyment. It remains to be seen what happens with the whole game. As a reminder, Xenoblade Chronicles 3 throws us into the world of Aionio, torn apart by the war between Keves and Agnus, two very different nations. It is in this context that Noah and his companions Lanz and Eunie will live an experience that will turn their fate upside down.
