6 Indie Games of the Week You Can’t Miss (PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch)

Game news 6 Indie Games of the Week You Can’t Miss (PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch)

You’re getting used to it: Every week dozens of video games (indie or not, for that matter) are released on various platforms, whether it’s PC, Switch, Xbox or PlayStation. Our mission at JV – is to make sure that you find yourself there! So, as at the start of each week, here is your selection of titles, from July 25 to 31, 2022. There are quite a few choices.

Bear and breakfast

Why not start with a completely relaxed game? In Bear and Breakfast you are a bear who does his best to take care of a “bed and breakfast” (homestay accommodation including one night and one breakfast). You will have to put your hands on your paws so as not to scare your visitors! In this title developed by Gummy Cat, the first step will therefore be to Renovate an abandoned cabin with care. Everything must go there: bathroom, living room and of course the bedrooms. According to the Steam page, these can run into “dozens”. For all this, you will have to choose furniture and decoration with an interface that seems really complete. But that’s not all. Bear and Breakfast describes itself as a management and “adventure” game with a secret that would hide deep in the forest. Exciting.

Captain Velvet Meteor

After the forest, our selection takes you into another dimension entirely with Captain Velvet Meteor, coming soon to Nintendo Switch! It is an adventure game | strategy where Damien, a young boy turned upside down by his move to Japan, create in his imagination a superhero, Captain Velvet Meteor. And as if that wasn’t enough, he even creates an entire universe where his fears have come to life. The title from the Momo-pi studio thus offers an adventure in two phases: the very real reality, where you get the opportunity to chat with your family; and fiction, which will call upon all your strategy to defeat a host of enemies. Nintendo’s website even mentions “infiltration, puzzle” stages to root out evil. All in all, we envision a complete experience with matches, a lot of storytelling.

Strange Horticulture

This time we enter the strange bracket of this selection, with Strange Horticulture, a puzzle game defined as “occult”. It is more concrete a puzzle that finds its setting in a plant shop. “Find and identify new plants, pet your cat, talk to a sorority, or join a cult,” reads the title’s Steam page. Strange Horticulture is divided into several phases: managing your customers; exploring the surroundings of your store; identification of plants to understand their power. A quest for knowledge that won’t be easy – as your walks in the woods can be beneficial to you as well as… mortal (“you may reveal powers beyond your wildest dreams or lose your mind”). An experience that seems separate and more than solid!

Madison

We’re continuing with a horror game that we’ve already talked about on JV, which is making a comeback on Nintendo’s hybrid console. We’re obviously talking about Madison! Its starting “pitch” is simple: you are in a haunted house and must escape from a demonic monster. Our test (14/20) talks about a meeting between Kojima’s terrible PT demo and the Project Zero series. Yes, exactly that! To go into more detail, you play as Luca, controlled by an entity named Madison, forced to perform a macabre ritual. Your path here will of course be disturbed by the creature itself, but also by portals to another dimension that can be opened using your camera. Between puzzles and scary looks, the game from Bloodious studio may not be very original, but ultimately has “robust qualities”.

History of the Seasons – Pioneers of Olive Town

Tired of the horror? So here’s your gamer sunshine: Story of Seasons – Pioneers of Olive Town, new installment in the farm management simulation series – formerly known as Harvest Moon. As usual: you will have to run a farm, with everything that includes plants, animals, but also everything that concerns the preparation of the land itself. “Welcome to Oliville, a peaceful community established by your grandfather and his forerunner friends. Now that you’ve taken over his farm, you must carry on his legacy,” the Steam page tells us. The important thing therefore becomes not only your domain, but the city next to it, whose infrastructure you can develop. There’s finally a system to chat with locals and find love Stardew Valley style.

RimWorld Console Edition

To end this election well, why not go to space? Yes, you are not dreaming, the amazing RimWorld is coming to PlayStation 4 | Xbox. If you have never heard of it, you should know that it is a colony simulation following the existence of three survivors of a spaceship crash. On Steam we can read that the title is more of a “story generator” than a strategy game competitive. The important thing is the drama, the tragedy, the comedy in the colony. It’s simple, after generating your world according to several parameters almost anything is possible. The colonist’s mood will be affected by the dangers around, but also by ultra-precise things like the size of the room he lives in (yes) or what organ has been hit. Between bad weather, attacks and surprises, you have to be alert.
