Preview WoW Dragonflight: the expansion of all promises for all players?
After nearly two years of exploring Shadowlands in Shadowlands, World of Warcraft: Dragonflight is taking over. This ninth extension, expected like the Messiah, would already be more sober and promising than its earlier counterparts. But what is it really? We were able to venture there and offer you an early preview after noon. 20.00 on the Dragon Islands.
It would be hard to talk about World of Warcraft without mentioning its hectic efforts to try to stay up to date, at least visually. Almost 18 years after its official release, the game nevertheless continues to adapt to modern video game standards by naturally integrating multiple “addons”which ultimately allows you to do so customize your interface as you see fit without resorting to these third-party features: from the action bars to the mini-map, many elements have been redesigned and now look much more modern than ever! And it was time!
This tendency towards modernization is also felt in the various menus which have also undergone a serious overhauleven complete reconsideration of one of the most important elements of each player’s playing style: talent trees ! In Dragonflight you have to say goodbye to the few fake choices that you were offered until then open up huge talent trees offers several ways to customize your playing style. However certain “iconic” techniques for each class are removed from the basic skills and integrated into these treesin addition to many other powers lost in previous expansions: legendary powers, set of bonuses, Azerbaijani powers …
In the absence of effective means of measuring the viability of a particular talent, the bet seems very successful. Though most of the talents we are offered have already been present in the game in the past somehow, the factHaving all these powers available at the same time makes the game particularly interesting and even surprising at times thanks to a serious sense of power (even during the leveling phase)! A risky bet that, we hope, will give everyone the opportunity to do well by seeking out the little talent that makes them unique.
Unleash the power of the Costumes
It’s hard to talk about Dragonflight without mentioning new race and class association of this extension: Atmospheric Dractyr. Completely exclusive to each other, this race offers and class a new way of approaching the game thanks to a new mechanic: Evocationschanneled spells, which you can choose to trigger whenever you want, after a more or less long spell, and whose effects vary according to the duration of the channeling.
Dealing with this new class did not seem very natural to us At first glance. However, after giving it a small chance, the conclusion is there: it is full of small subtleties friendly who does it relatively nervous about playing without falling into the demon hunter’s profits. Can perform double jump and even off levitatethe evocative Dractyr carries mail armor and will “semi-remote”. Understand thishe fights and heals about fifteen yards from his opponents and alliesby using magic from World of Warcraft’s nuclear flights to stop his enemies from moving and smashing them to pieces.
The evoker has two specializations: Destruction (damage) and Preservation (healing). Both offer very different options, each having talents that make him a wonderfully slow and powerful caster inflict major area damage or heal his allies to a large extent in the areas he targets, or plays on its impressive mobility and versatility to go around his enemies and stay close to your allies by rejecting the damage they take through the magic of the times.
A particularly interesting class for which we can already see the potential limits, but also several and very serious benefits. One thing is for sure: the evocative Dractyr has absolutely nothing to do with the idea you had about it until then!
In the heart of the Dragon Islands
Among the more “classic” news introduced in the game by Dragonflight, there is, of course, and above all a new continent, the Dragon Islands, consisting of 5 new areas. We were only able to get our fingers in the third, the range of azureand it’s obvious from the startlargely draws inspiration from some of the most iconic elements from the Wrath of the Lich King and the Cataclysm expansions.
In this large area probably unsurpassed in sizewe find some famous protagonists, Roharts of Northrend for example, but also antagonists that we did not necessarily expect to see around, the gnols especially! The development is pleasant and relatively fast (about three hours to the main story, takes you time), and if the first quests struggle to get us in the mood we are quickly caught up in the game by discovering quite surprising and interesting fan service… But we let you discover for yourself!
But if it houses the heart of Blue Dragonflight, Travée d’Azur also offers a rather surprising amount of diverse and varied landscapes : from the dark forest with huge trees to the pestilent swamps to the snow-capped frames and steep mountains, there are ultimately several mini-zones in one on offer. A very noticeable variation, especially since‘she is not quite in verticality as you might expect: the ascent is complex without flying, but it remains feasible and even relatively comfortable on the ground !
A lively and powerful ally
Finally, it seems crucial to us to present one of the great new features in this ninth expansion: Dragon Ride ! This new system is actually back renewal of another aging system: that of flying mounts.
Whereas so far you just had to fly from point A to point B. without worrying about much, in Dragonflight you need to pay attention to the fatigue of your mount to be able to maintain height but also speed during your sliding sessions. Thanks to the energy, the power it is like that possible to order your assembly to perform certain actions which will help you achieve these goals. But be careful: only high-speed flight or landing and walking allow you to regain this energy. When exhausted, the holder gradually loses speed until it has to land for a short break well deserved.
This new operation and much anticipated is made complex enough for those accustomed to flying since The Burning Crusade ‘but ‘We get used to the game pretty quickly by looking for the highest peaks from which one can dive to reach our destination as quickly as possible.
This little effort is worth it: the movement speed of flying fittings can now reach 950% (against 310% so far) if you master your dragon to perfection. Enough to encourage you to learn how to control airflows and spend time flying at high speeds over the landscapes of this new territory.
If the original ambitions of World of Warcraft: Dragonflight seem much lower than those of its predecessors, it is without counting on the addition of certain features that offer players new ways to approach the game in many ways. We have not yet had the opportunity to indulge in high-level content, but at the moment the promises seem to be kept on Blizzard’s side: everything is done to please the players, and the developers themselves seem to enjoy the content that offered by Dragonflugt. So will the sequel and especially the level 70 content be fun to browse? Blizzard’s promises are numerous on this topic and look very interesting. It is too early to comment on this. However, we can already say it clearly: Dragonflight is certainly a very promising expansion as it stands, much more than what we have seen since the Legion. This impression needs to be confirmed in the coming weeks and fed relatively regularly with long-term content to really convince us. Dragonflight is yes for now.
