The summer quarters of the library, the toy library and the Social Life Space are back in operation in Nogent-le-Rotrou

For the 12th year in a row, the municipal library, the toy library run by the Ludo’Perche association, the children’s youth center (EVS) social housing area and the ATD Quart-Monde association are resuming their summer quarters. this second half of July. At the foot of the Gauchetière’s buildings, on the grounds of the castle of the Counts of Perche or near the Théâtre de Verdure, books, wooden and outdoor games will be made available to families.

The summer quarter of 2021 ends with a good result in Nogent-le-Rotrou

These activities “outside the walls” constitute for these municipal and association structures another way of reaching out to families by addressing the public in an informal way. “There are families that we never see at the toy library during the year, but we meet them every year in these summer quarters,” testifies Céline Rodriguez, one of the toy librarians and co-responsible for the Ludo’Perche association.

Tailor-made agreements

Last year, with the limitations associated with the health crisis and in particular the establishment of attendance meters, the summer quarter had affected about 220 people in six meetings. In 2019, it was more than 340 people.

The library and toy library bring books and games to everyone in the summer district of Nogent-le-Rotrou

The summer quarters have also evolved a bit over time, as explained by Charlotte Violette, the head of the municipal library. “Originally, we had six meetings organized over three weeks and in two different places, the Gauchetières playground and the Winston-Churchill square. Two years ago, we added the Théâtre de Verdure to it, where we held six meetings over two weeks, and the Saint-Jean Plateau meeting was moved to the castle, which offers us a very pleasant setting ”.

The three organizing structures, which also receive a helping hand from the ATD Quart-Monde association for the two meetings held at the Gouchetières city stadium, are therefore waiting for the participants from this Tuesday until the launch of the 2022 season (read in box). “There are really games, books, albums for all ages and for all tastes. Everyone can find something to entertain themselves there,” assures Émilie Lecomte, head of EVS.
