PRESENTATION

After a quick introduction (5 pages), the book is divided into 4 main parts:

- First meetings (19 pages),
depicts a quick overview of the game’s background and gives the details of the machines and gives advice on how to interpret them.

- The world of synthetics (122 pages), describes the role, society, life of synthetic beings, as well as the 5 firms and the universe (plants, space travel, extraterrestrial threats) with which they come into contact.

- Matrix (202 pages), describes in detail the creation of characters (construction, programs, expansions, weapons, possibilities), the action solution system, combat, physical abilities, hacking, the Omega program, Dissidence and Deviance, repairs, various forms of confrontation , ratings and updates.

- Under high pressure (35 pages), is an investigation scenario that takes place at a station that is voluntarily exposed to strong pressure to study the phenomenon of self-repair. It is intended to be played with the 6 pre-made characters.

PRESENTATION


These gaming aids offer 5 booklets, each representing a company (Future Technologies, Earth Shield, Prophetia Incorporated, Cyberlife and Hgmon Industries), designed as promise advertisements for players, as well as a booklet for gaming aids intended for players and the manager, which contains details about the general extensions, the weapons table, the summary rules, the dissent and the deviation, the rows, the update protocols.

CRITICISM

After the release of Omga – Preliminary missionswhich served as a springboard for the success of the crowdfunding campaign, the majority of the role-playing game range is now available.


This is how we discover a cohesive world and a special pleasure that had often been approached in role-playing games, but which rarely forms the heart of role-playing games, synthetic life.

Far from the mere cybernetic additions of shadow running or of cyberpunkmuch more developed than the very concise one ROBOT, Omega really gives us a new playful experience. It was sorely lacking.

From the Post-Apo SF world we can say that it is classic, but from the life of a synth we quickly realize that the game will be different if the players actually get carried away by this singularity.

For example, let’s talk about Dissidence and Deviance, which are “computer diseases”, kind of bugs in the Matrix, which see programs deteriorate, and then the Omega devices tend to be something more than just executors in the hands of the dark projects of the companies .


The theme is so strong and so present in the SF literature (Asimov’s laws for robotics, the verbal contest of the two synthetic models in Alien Pagt…) that it even exceeds space combat or laser fire. It is the original condition of robot life. Which makes it salty.

This is why it is likely that it will be very developed later, especially in scenarios and campaigns.

For me, Omega is the ideal role-playing game for a campaign that wants a beginning (obedience to the companies), a long development (adventure and internal conflicts, even an entry into the resistance movement) and above all an end (an epic struggle for synthetic freedom). I strongly urge future GMs in this vote.
