From June 29 to July 17 – Jean Louis Clausse
” My taste for nature and animals was revealed during my stays in Central Africa and Madagascar at the beginning of my professional life as a doctor (…) I am completely self-taught, trained from magazines, books mostly (…) As a pensioner approaching, I have been preparing for it with a real photographic project since 2017 (…) I have chosen to focus on wildlife photography, primarily ornithology, because I have great pleasure in observing the behavior of birds (….). For a long time, my favorite terrain was the Camargue and visiting ornithological parks: Marquenterre in the Somme Bay, Le Teich in the Arcachon Basin. The work I present today could only have been done thanks to the management of Les Salins for authorizing me to take several photo shoots where I discovered this very special nature in a more intimate way. A true privilege to be able to closely observe the fauna and flora that make it up, and the play of light.
From 20 to 31 July – Saltwater pictures by Frédéric Atlan
” Negatives, positives, the layers overlap, the color fades, the patterns evaporate. The muddy bottoms remain, from neutral gray to monochrome, the ground curls up, the lines crack. From this decanting of the real, only the salts remain, so that only the white of the paper appears. Variegated in white, images that bring the salt crystals of Salin des Pesquiers to life. Fred Atlans’ work focuses on what happens in an area that could be called an “intermediate” between the layers. His work consists of overlays of images that refer to classical photography as negative, positive, black and white and monochrome. As a mirror of our time, it blurs the boundaries between different levels of reality. In his work, the boundaries between digital art and traditional media are lost. Frédéric Atlan has lived and worked in Paris for twenty-five years as a visual artist and photographer after living five years in Melanesia, where he was very sensitive to the concept of “tradition”. Today, his work questions the possible presence of archaism in contemporary representations. »
From 3 to 14 August – Diaphragm and Light Var by Le Photo-club d’Ollioules
The association Diaphragme et Lumière Var was established in 1991. In 2018, the new presidency aimed to pursue and develop the principle of friendly sharing of all facets of the art of photography between all members, from beginner to expert. With the help of the members of the office and the support of Ollioule municipality, this operation is now well established. The spirit of our club is above all based on exchange, transmission and improvement. Our photo club is equipped with a digital laboratory, a film laboratory and a photo studio. We also offer workshops and photo tours. Among these excursions, we were fortunate to be able to access Salins d’Hyères for several months. Our members therefore went to this remarkable natural space to photograph fauna and flora. Today we are proud to present you some of the photos taken. »
From 17 August to 4 September
Julie Thoury Observing reality from the angle of the shadow is like throwing yourself into an intimate and secret world ”. I have always had an obsession with the plant world, its strangeness, its silence. The Salins d’Hyères site is a privileged place where nature dominates. It is especially emphasized by the interplay of reflections between sky, land and sea at the first light of day and at the dawn of darkness. If photography makes it possible to capture fleeting moments and reveal their unreal atmosphere, painting prefers a more personal interpretation. A fascination with the alluring power of variety, the masses against the light, the shadows, the vibration that I would like to share here with you. »
