HTC launches Desire 22 Pro, a smartphone optimized for metaverse, cryptocurrencies and NFTs

Manufacturer HTC has just announced the Desire 22 Pro, the first smartphone designed for metaverse. Developed as the perfect companion to the VIVE FLOW headset, the phone provides easy access to the digital world developed by HTC, Viverse. This virtual universe offers the creation of personalized NFTs and avatars.

HTC unveils its metaverse-oriented smartphone

As expected, HTC unveiled the first smartphone made for the meta-verse at a conference on June 27, 2022. Called the Desire 22 Pro, the phone was designed to work in synergy with the new VIVE Flow headphones of the brand. According to the Taiwanese manufacturer, this is “perfect companion” of the helmet.

Specifically, the smartphone can distribute content platforms like Twitch, Disney + and Netflix directly on the virtual reality glasses. The two devices communicate through HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) 2.24 wireless standard. This Protocol is intended to prevent the illegal copying of high-resolution digital content.

Thanks to this combination, the user of the glasses can see the content on their “own private cinema” wherever it is, ”says Shen Ye, global product manager at HTC, in a press release. Note, however, that VIVE Flow is compatible with all Android devices.

Thanks to the reverse charging of the smartphone, it is possible to recharge the battery on the connected glasses. Within the Android interface on the Desire 22 Pro, there is an application called Live Manager. It allows you to configure all your hardware dedicated to virtual reality.

Viverse, the meta verse created by HTC

Desire 22 Pro also includes several standard applications designed to facilitate access Viverse, the meta-verse developed by HTC. Within this digital universe, it is possible to design your own avatar, access virtual reality meeting rooms and create non-fungible tokens (NFT). An NFT is also offered with the purchase of the terminal. Finally, Viverse allows Internet users to “create their own virtual space” to their liking.

HTC’s new production also benefits from the features inaugurated on the Exodus series, the brand’s blockchain phones. Thus, there is a digital wallet that allows you to store cryptocurrencies on blockchain. Ethereum (ETH) and Polygon (MATIC).

In addition, the Desire has 22 Pro a very classic technical sheet. Oriented midrange, the smartphone is covered by a 6.6-inch LCD screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chip supported by 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. On the back there is a triple photosensor.

The smartphone will be available in France at a price of 449 euros. At this time, HTC has not announced a release date. Desire 22 Pro shares some common features with the Saga, Solana (SOL) Web 3.0 smartphone. Nevertheless, the HTC smartphone seems more focused on virtual reality, the manufacturer’s spearhead, than on the metaverse or Web 3.0.
