Text: Eva Bourgin – On the 2nde The Lyon edition of the Rallye du Cœur stops on June 26, 2022 at the Château de Laye in Saint Georges de Reneins. Among the 212 registered children and from the IHOPe (Institute of Hematology and Pediatric Oncology), Jules Frambourg is already dreaming of his unique car.
Like a hurricane, a child’s pain sweeps everything in its path. If the joy of sneaking into this infernal whirlwind succeeds, this ordeal marked by a glimmer of hope unites a family in turmoil more than ever. Close together, its members fight together to get a glimpse of a better sky. this match, jules Strasbourg and his family has been experiencing it daily for a year.
Hand in hand, they draw their strength, where benevolence becomes their best weapon, such as at the Rallye du Cœur, held at the Château de Laye in Saint Georges de Renins. Last year, the solidarity event took place for the first time in Lyon and brought in 237,000 euros thanks to the 150 registered crews. During a trip, sick children can look at themselves differently in a luxury car.
If 7 conventions have already been held in France, this is 2e The Lyon edition has attracted new co-drivers, such as the Jules. “He’s looking forward to it and he’s crazy. Like me, he’s a car fan. He spends his time looking at the crews and wondering who he wants to ride with,” his father exclaims. Sebastien Frambourg. Dreams and excitement then become an essential weapon in this uncertain battle.
The ordeal of the disease borne by the generosity of all
“Last year, Jules started getting a stomach ache. In late August, the diagnosis drops. He is 6 years old and has cancer of the part of the adrenal gland that had calcified all the lymph nodes in his stomach. In other words, the tumor has spread, ”explains his father. As soon as the disease is detected, the IHOPE team takes care of the little boy so he can quickly start his treatment. “Jules has two older sisters, Aurelie and Lauren (over). They were able to go back to school, and he was not, ”he recalls.
If the message of the disease comes as a tsunami in the family, many of the sun’s rays are coming to dampen their storm. At the hospital, the teacher from IHOPe gives him lessons, while his school also comes to teach him lessons when he returns home. “We are really lucky to be in France. We are also supported by the hospital team and the generosity of others. The intensity of the relationships with the people we meet is proportional to our pain,” he explains.
After more than 8 chemotherapies in two and a half months and a 10-hour surgery in December, Jules spends his Christmas 2021 in the hospital and then continues for 5 weeks in a sterile room. His courage, which is a completely worthy one, seems to be strengthened by solidarity movements everywhere. “We were invited by the firefighters and the regional police. We are invited to the Paris Firefighters Parade and to Canadair’s base. With my wife Anne Sophie, this belief in people makes us push mountains ”, he rejoices moved. A rainbow of smiles, complete with the arrival of the Rallye du Coeur.
A race extended to others thanks to the Rallye du Coeur
Faced with the difficulties of these trials, the APPEL Association (Philanthropic Association of Parents of Children with Leukemia or Other Cancers) becomes a shoulder on which families can rest. “I met the APPEL team in the lobby of IHOPe because they offer coffee every Monday morning. I already knew about the event, but I heard them talk about the Rallye du Coeur and I became interested in it, ”he recalls.
Sébastien loves cars and buys a Porsche 911 and participates in it in the Rallye du Cœur. In the hunt for donations, he has so far achieved the sum of 16,000 euros with more than 110 donors. A victory for this father, who then extends his struggle to other families, by being the godfather of another child. “Jules wants to be in another car and he understood that right away. He told me that there would definitely be lots of other kids who would like to get into Porsche, ”he laughs.
For the purpose of raising 300,000 euros, the money will be donated to APPEL and will be used to fund programs such as the treatment of brain tumors. Whether for families or professionals, the Rallye du Cœur allows you to let go. Touch the stars to stop seeing this storm and hope one day that the rain will definitely give way to good weather. For Jules and for all his other comrades.
