Instax mini Link 2: minimal renewal of Fujifilm’s portable printer

Fujifilm surfs the instax wave and develops its portable photo printer. After an interesting and user-friendly mini Link, Fuji returns with the slightly redesigned mini Link 2.

Almost a clone of version 1

The curves and size of the printer remain very much the same as on the previous model, and we even regret the presence of the perpetual micro-USB port for recharging. Externally, only three changes are remarkable. First of all, the main control has been slightly redesigned and a key has been installed near the paper exit. It is used to activate the LED (last shift) located on the other side of the machine.

A touch of augmented reality

This little light is the main novelty of a printer that is almost identical to the previous model. By using the camera integrated in the mini Link application, you can actually achieve “lightpainting” effects thanks to this new system called instaxAiR. It allows you to “draw” directly on your photos or videos. We can therefore apply bubble effects, neon lights or even color marks on the captured images.

Another improvement, always when you use the mobile application (for iOS and Android) to take a picture of yourself. If you hold the printer, by tilting it back and forth, you can zoom in or out on the image.

Fuji also highlights the printer’s pairing with its hybrid X-S10. You can send photos taken with the device directly to the printer.

Price and availability

The Fujifilm Instax mini Link 2 printer will be available from 22 June 2022 for € 129, just like the first mini-link of its time. It will take three colors: room blue, clay white and soft pink. To accompany this launch, Fuji is also releasing a new Instax mini-film, “Spray Art”, whose colored drawing (present on the frame) of a rainbow makes it possible to reflect light. It costs you € 10 for ten movies.
