Play news Summer Game Fest 2022: The Xenomorphs are back with Aliens: Dark Descent
The summer games party is in full swing! The event hosted by Geoff Keighley is an opportunity to get news about the next big softs, but also to discover new games. Tonight’s first: Aliens: Dark Descent, an isometric shooter from the famous movie license.
An adaptation of Aliens: The Return
If we are to believe the name of this new game, it seems that Aliens: Dark Descent is an adaptation of the second film in the terrible sci-fi saga of the same name directed by James Cameron in 1986. If Ridley Scott’s first film so the famous xenomorph appeared for the first time, it was in fact Aliens: The Return that developed the mythological bases for the cinematic saga and highlighted the space Marines ready to zigzag from the space insect.
We do not know much about this new game yet. The first pictures are mainly similar to a CGI trailer describing the main lines of the plot. It has a naval group that is probably stuck on a space station, and is at the mercy of a ton of bloodthirsty xenomorphs.
Eventually, these first images ended with a very short gameplay excerpt, indicates in passing that Aliens: Dark Descent should offer an isometric shooting experience. We should then be able to control his team of Marines and do everything we can to help them escape this swamp. We finally learn that the game is planned to 2023 on PC, Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, PS5 and PS4.
An adaptation to the height of the cinematic saga?
Aliens and video games have been a somewhat eventful love story since the first adaptations. The latest game, Aliens: Fireteam Elitewhich offered a collaborative experience similar to titles like Left 4 dead had quickly lost a large portion of its players and eventually sank into oblivion. Conversely, Alien has been able to excel in the gaming world with games like Alien: Isolationsurvival-horror gripping and devilishly scary. We are therefore waiting to see what Focus Entertainment and 20th Century Games have in store for us for this new iteration.
