Lexus RX luxury SUV boasts dynamic exterior design | Knives

that Lexus RX fifth generation reinvents itself.

Lexus’ iconic SUV, RX, is a best-selling Lexus brand with more than 3.5 million units sold worldwide since its introduction in 1998.

Along with the newly launched NX and RZ, unveiled in late April, the RX opens up for a “New chapter” of the Lexus brand. These three models represent the strongest offensive line that Lexus has ever launched on the premium SUV market in the D- and E-segments.

The RX uses the new Lexus design.

That tapered shape of the grid developed to three dimensions and was applied to the entire front of the vehicle.

The RX team also found inspiration in the RX design tradition.

To achieve a bolder line, Lexus designers created a more dynamic profile by lengthening the bonnet, increasing the wheelbase by 60mm and lowering the roofline by 10mm.

The set gives the car one a little air cutting. The distinctive black rear column (called the “floating roof” at Lexus) benefits from a more three-dimensional look.

That sharper headlightsair intake as well as a wider track enhances the appearance attitude.

The triple LED headlights are sharper and more horizontal.

On the back is light stripe emphasizes the car’s typical RX shape, while the wider track enhances attitude and road presence.

The introduction of the “Lexus” brand on the tailgate creates a clean, modern line.

The result is a car that can be immediately identified as an RX, but with a more dynamic character.

The F Sport Executive version offers improvements in the design of the grille, skirts and aerodynamic front and rear bumpers.

Inside, the “Tazuna” cockpit is driver-centered, giving him direct and intuitive control of the vehicle, according to the principle “hands on the steering wheel, eyes on the road”.

The layout of cockpit is based on a 14-inch touch screen. The anti-reflective screen is accompanied by classic buttons for intuitive and quick access to the most used functions. Graphics are presented in HD for excellent visibility in all lighting conditions.

In the cockpit, information sources such as the multimedia screen, multi-information display, single-dial meter, centralized meters and head-up display are grouped together so that their contents can be read with minimal eye and head movement.

The front seats have been redesigned to offer optimal accessibility, excellent support and efficient heating / ventilation. To provide proper ergonomic support around the waist, a concave shape has been created on the sides of the seat.

RX luxury SUV features high quality materials such as high quality leather and handmade Takumi suede with the embossed “L” for Lexus.

that mood selector Lexus allows passengers to personalize the RX’s ambient lighting from a palette of 64 colors and 14 bespoke themes.

While typically ensuring Lexus noise in the cabin with sound-absorbing and vibration-reducing measures, Takumi engineers and craftsmen have created sounds to add a sense of power and performance. To inspire the senses, they also adjusted the sound of the car doors.

The system ofe-latch electronic door opener makes door handling easier and more comfortable.

The RX offers both ample luggage space and five luxury seats with excellent legroom.

The rear seats divided into 40/20/40 easy to hold long objects such as skis or surfboards.

The RX will be offered in two electrified powertrains: the RX 450h plus plug-in hybrid and the RX 500h turbo hybrid with Direct4 four-wheel drive.

RX 450h more

that RX 450h plus plug-in hybrid is equipped with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid engine, two electric motors (front and rear) and an 18.1 kWh lithium-ion battery. The rear electric motor enables permanent four-wheel drive.

The plug-in hybrid engine of the Lexus RX 450h plus offers a combined power of 306 hp (225 kW). With more power from the electric motors, driving is effortless. Acceleration from zero to 100 km / h takes about 7.0 seconds.

The capacity of the lithium battery shows a range of approximately 65 km in the combined cycle (awaiting approval) and a maximum speed of 135 km / h in electrical mode. When the battery runs out, the RX 450h plus automatically becomes a self-charging hybrid.

RX 450h plus guarantees superior efficiency with CO2 emissions of less than 26 g / km and a consumption of less than 1.2 liters per. 100 km (WLTP combined cycle).

RX 500h

The RX 500h has the first ever turbocharged hybrid engine from Lexus.

The self-charging hybrid engine is based on a 2.4-liter turbo petrol engine, two electric motors, a 6-speed automatic transmission and Direct4 four-wheel drive.

The front electric motor is located between the internal combustion engine and the transmission, with a clutch on both sides, which provides great flexibility in the power distribution between the front and rear axles.

The rear is equipped with an 80 kW e-Axle electronic shaft: a set, located between the rear wheels, consisting of an electric motor, a gear and an ECU (Energy Control Unit).

The power is controlled by Lexus’ Direct4 four-wheel drive. The system continuously and automatically distributes power and torque between the front and rear axles in all driving situations, within milliseconds, faster than any mechanical system.

The Direct4 transmission allows better transmission of sensations between the road and the steering wheel, and also offers improved driving stability and excellent handling at high speeds. The Direct4 transmission also improves driving comfort by reducing body movements.

The RX 500h’s self-charging 2.4-liter turbohybrid engine produces 371 hp (273 kW). The RX 500h accelerates from zero to 100 km / h in about 6 seconds.

The high-performance Lexus RX 500h hybrid has four-wheel steering thanks to the dynamic rear steering system.

To ensure “Lexus Driving Signature”, Lexus engineers have optimized SUV basics such as center of gravity, inertia properties, weight reduction, stiffness and motorization to create a more natural dialogue between the car and the driver.

The RX is built on the GA-K platform, which is similar to the NX but in a different configuration. The rear section has been completely redesigned to extend the wheelbase and implement additional crossbeams and suspension struts that increase stiffness. This increased rigidity allowed Lexus engineers to adjust the suspension more precisely, improving performance and comfort.

Handling and responsiveness are the result of an improved GA-K platform that offers a very stiff body and a low center of gravity.

To save weight, use the Lexus RX materials such as 2GPa high-strength steel for the central columns and aluminum for screens and canopies. The new structure also uses 1180 MPa steel for the threshold reinforcement and 1470 MPa steel for the roof stiffness.

That multi-link rear suspension provides better lateral stability and improved anti-case properties. It is capable of handling higher torque levels and also significantly reduces noise and vibration.

The RX can be equipped with a digital rearview mirror which gives the driver a wide and always unobstructed field of view using real-time images from the car’s rear view camera.

That panoramic view offers a 360 ° live view around the RX and a pre-recorded view under the car from cameras that can be cleaned automatically. The system creates a virtual 3D image of the RX showing the vehicle as seen from above.

RX is available with one memory automatic parking system (depending on finish). It helps the driver to park by controlling steering and braking. The system uses the RX’s range of four cameras and 12 ultrasonic sensors to get a complete picture of the car’s surroundings. It can also recognize up to three regularly used parking spaces.

The RX benefits from the third generation Lexus Safety System plus, which includes an enhanced pre-collision safety system, a proactive driving assistant as well as enhanced safety features for accident detection and prevention.

that pre-collision safety systemn (PCS) detects motorcycles and other objects in the car’s road. It can also recognize the risk of collision with oncoming vehicles or pedestrians crossing at an intersection or junction. Its response is faster and its ability to avoid an impact is increased by active trajectory correction.

that dynamic cruise control (DRCC) recognizes a vehicle stopping in front faster, and in coordination with the optimized lane holding system, it follows a more natural line in turns.

While the Lexus Safety System plus is fitted as standard on all models, the highest finishes will benefitExtended security package including Lane Change Assist with Auto Passing (LCA) and Intelligent Forward Cross Traffic Alert (FCTAB), which uses radar monitoring to alert the driver of vehicles approaching from the side of the RX’s nose.

that pre-crash safety system with Active Steering Assist determines when there is a high probability of a collision with a pedestrian or an object in front of the car. If the system finds that it is difficult to avoid the collision by activating the brakes alone (but that it could be avoided by using the steering), it uses Active Steering Assist in addition to activating an alarm and braking.

L ‘proactive driver assistance helps maintain a safe distance to oncoming cars even when cruise control is not activated, and helps the driver avoid pedestrians and obstacles.

that DriverMonitor uses a camera mounted above the steering wheel to continuously check the driver’s attention status. It is able to brake or stop the car if the driver does not respond to warnings.

The RX’s electronic ‘e-latch’ entry and exit system is connected to the car’s blind-spot monitors in the exclusive Safe Exit Assist function. This prevents the driver from opening the door if a vehicle or bicycle approaches from behind.

RX also offers the very latest multimedia platform with Hey Lexus intelligent voice assistant and Lexus Link app. With the use of smartphones, navigation, vehicle controls, media features and cloud connectivity, there are a hundred ways to interact with the RX. RX offers “always connected” services and the convenience of remote updates.

In addition to the built-in navigation system by default, RX also provides cloud-based services by default (in markets where these services are available). DCM (Data Communication Module) allows the car to be permanently connected, providing real-time information about traffic conditions.

The multimedia system includes the intelligent voice assistant “Hey Lexus”, which answers questions and commands in natural language. The smartphone connection is supplied as standard (wireless for Apple CarPlay and the cable for Android Auto). A tray for wireless charging is also available as standard.
