The Air and Space School offers a new Specialized Master® “Defense and security in space”.

For several years, the space has experienced a particularly marked development, whether in connection with daily life applications (telecommunications, navigation & positioning, bank transfer, earth observation, etc.) or with military operations. This strong growth is not without raising security-related issues.

Air and Space School (EAE), in collaboration with Space Command (CDE), National Center for Space Studies (CNES) and National Office for Studies and Research Aerospace (ONERA) offer you a Specialized Master® “ Defense and security in space (MS DefSiS). This dual-level (BAC + 6) dual civilian and military education, and open to the international, will enable graduates to assert a sought-after expertise in space and security.

A major military and aeronautical school also focused on space, the Air and Space School (EAE) trains all officers from the Air and Space Force. About 700 officers are trained each year. A true command school, it prepares future military leaders to be able to exercise both on national territory and in operational theaters, with judgment and a sharp sense of responsibility.

The Air and Space School develops:

The master’s degree “Defense & Security in Space” aims to train civilian and military leaders with an integrated vision of the security of space systems in civilian or defense space operations.

The skills developed within the framework of MS® DefSiS will provide privileged access to the areas of analysis and consulting within industries, government agencies or firms related to the operation and use of civil space systems and military in their security dimension.

This expertise can be used in particular in connection with research or development of a space program, implementation and operational use of a space system or even analysis, prevention, monitoring or crisis management.

Thanks to this excellent education, graduates will be able to:

  • to integrate the security dimension into the design of missions and the use of civilian or military space systems;
  • to set up an analysis of risks, vulnerabilities and threats of missions throughout the chain of a space system;
  • analyze the spatial situation based on the available data to identify the critical in situations and interpret abnormal behavior;
  • to propose solutions within the framework of a defensive strategy;
  • to advise and contribute to decision-making in the civil and political-military areas of space operations.

Supported by prestigious organizations, industries and start-ups, this training draws on the expertise of teachers from the School of Air and Space as well as many professionals to deliver a dynamic program that combines theoretical contributions, active and innovative pedagogies such as. serious game, scenarios, simulation and realization of a group project carried out during the entire education. The program will include several visits to operating sites, space systems and industrial facilities.

The program is aimed at French or international students or professionals with degrees in various disciplines: aerospace engineering, computer science or science, but also political science, law, economics or management.

This specialized master’s recognized by the Conférence des Grandes Ecoles is open to students with a BAC + 5 level or a BAC + 3 level with professional experience in the field. This course, in English, represents a total volume of 450 hours spread over seven modules covering a wide range of themes.

At the end of the theoretical education, the professional thesis of 4 to 6 months will also be the privileged moment to expose the trainees to the space environment. They will be given assignments in industrial institutions and organizations or partner companies. They will also be able to exchange with professionals about trades and possible opportunities.
