For Philippe Van-Hoorne, mayor of L’Aigle (Orne) “today marks the culmination of months of work to attract new project managers to the city of L’Aigle”. This room is now the host six pop-up storesKalyBeauty Bio, Sacré Nin-Nin, S and M mode, Anna Ferreira, BO Biscuits and Carrefour City.

The place did not give “very bright”

This project was led by the city of L’Aigle and the Banque des Territoires under the “Small Towns Tomorrow” scheme. This program launched in 2020 by the government aims to revive 1600 small towns.

It was very important for the center of L’Aigle to give this space a facelift that did not really make you want to go there.

The mayor thanked Karim Houllier, the city center manager who took care of this project. This new space is part of the City Hall’s desire to revitalize the city center, which will experience “the arrival of the Cdc place de l’Europe and the transport of the cinema”, adds Jean Sellier, chairman of the Cdc du Pays de L ‘Eagle.

The purpose of these pop-up stores is to give traders the opportunity to get started and make themselves known with a view to later taking premises in the city center. They offer innovative concepts that cannot be found anywhere else. It’s a bit like the commercial version of a business incubator in an industrial zone.

This new space is born out of a desire to bring more offerings to the locals.

These stores are installed through overall leases which lasts “max. 3 years”, for the purpose of having one business renewal. In addition, the mayor already has it requests from the next merchant who want to establish themselves in this space. A rotation of companies should therefore be ensured so that this space is no longer empty.

The establishment of a uncertain lease allows shoppers to more easily set up shop “without deposit on arrival, with communication and gallery maintenance paid for by the municipality”. Enough to allow these traders get started a little calmer.
