Lenovo ThinkPad L15 Gen 2 (20X7003WFR) against the competition
Lenovo ThinkPad L15 Gen 2 (20X7003WFR) is currently displayed campaign at Lenovo France and is ranked as one of the only in its category that offers such a large amount of RAM with such a powerful processor (Octo Core), a fingerprint reader + infrared webcam, a TrackPoint, but also to run under Windows Pro.
Chassis, connectors, monitor on Lenovo ThinkPad L15 Gen 2 (20X7003WFR)
Robust with its compliance with the US military resistance standard MIL-STD-810H, this slim and lightweight laptop has a discreet look with its black design.
This versatile black notebook runs Windows 10 Pro, a more complete system than classic Windows 10 with its advanced network management and security tools like BitLocker.
And a 2-factor biometric authentication via Windows Hello technology and the integrated TPM 2.0 security chip is offered here thanks to the fingerprint reader and the infrared webcam that allows face recognition.
It is equipped with good connectivity with its 2 USB-C (compared to 1 maximum normally), its Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi axis modules (newer and more efficient than Wi-Fi ac) to communicate and remotely connect wirelessly, its convenient HDMI video output to easily connect it to a TV or monitor, such as its headphone / microphone audio port and Gigabit Ethernet or its 2 USB 3.0 (USB 2.0 compatible) guarantees transfers up up to 10 times faster than USB 2.0 if you connect USB 3.0 peripherals.
In addition, a Nano-SIM slot is included, enough to add a 4G module for example.
The Chiclet keyboard can, of course, be backlit, making it easier to distinguish its keys in the event of reduced ambient light.
The screen uses classic specifications for this price level, i.e. a 16: 9 format combined with Full HD definition, making it suitable for videos and more generally for High Definition content. In addition, both horizontal and vertical viewing angles are important due to IPS technology. It is a pity, however, that the colorimetry is classic, lower than that of high-end IPS panels. In any case, thanks to its anti-reflective treatment, the screen is more readable than a shiny panel in a bright environment (eg outside).
Performance, battery life of Lenovo ThinkPad L15 Gen 2 (20X7003WFR)
Lenovo ThinkPad L15 Gen 2 (20X7003WFR) is a discreet, secure black laptop designed for versatile everyday mobile use.
Its controlled weight and its thinness facilitate transportation, which is remarkable because it can last about 8 hours on battery with easy use.
To do this, it relies on energy-efficient components such as its low-power AMD APU (Accelerated Processing Unit) Cezanne Octo Core Ryzen 7 Pro 5850U processor. It is here combined with 16 GB of RAM to deliver good overall performance that is able to satisfy many users.
This will be especially true for those who perform multimedia processing from time to time using multicore and RAM, such as video conversion or photo editing.
However, too often to perform work that requires CPU and RAM resources using multicore, it is better to approach a PC with a non-low power processor and / or a suitably dedicated graphics card, but this will have an impact on autonomy and warming in particular.
There is no dedicated graphics card on board here. All graphics are therefore controlled by the Radeon Vega 8 graphics solution integrated in the Ryzen 7 Pro Octo Core. Admittedly modest, the Radeon Vega 8 still allows you to view photos and videos, but also play light titles.
On the storage side, there is logically a silent SSD but also more robust than a hard drive, less energy consuming and much faster.

Its 512 GB capacity is in line with what standard hard drives offer. However, if you need more space, you can use an external storage device such as a USB-C / USB 3.0 device to take advantage of fast transfers.
In any case, the SSD clearly improves the responsiveness and fluidity in use compared to a simple hard drive. Thanks to the SSD, start / stop is much faster e.g. as well as processing and launching software, and we reach the cards in online games faster.
