An original and durable finish for the water area on a campsite

To fully create the original 800 m² fun water area, it was not the material that decided the final shape, but on the contrary. After creating the pool in concrete, the Pebble Pro coating made it possible to fulfill all the wishes of Mr. Boudouin, owner of the premises, about creating an atypical pool area.

Creation of the water park at the Médoc Océan campsite in Vensac

Located in the Gironde, in the heart of nature, this is Yelloh! Village **** bought in 2020 wanted to move exclusively by proposing an overall project that is both luxurious and looks as natural as possible. As for the new water park, 800 m² of an allocated area of a total of 1,500 m² has been set aside for the large main swimming pool. Built as a lagoon featuring numerous sunbathing oases, it is now one of the establishment’s main attractions. A themed paddling pool, slides, but also a large wave pool with wild rivers, water walls, relaxing benches with bubbles, …

The work was carried out between October 2020 and June 2021 for the entire swimming pool project. The finishing part, performed with the Pebble Pro sealing and finishing coating, lasted 4 weeks, including the week of careful preparation required for the application of this final coating. Architect Federico Martinez Daverio designed the waterfront and oversaw the work. As for the use of Pebble Pro at the end of the project, it was overseen for 3 weeks by Dave Mitchell personally, CEO of Pebble Pro. In fact, the application of this finish leaves nothing to chance, and the large surface to be covered required foolproof know-how. After a week of careful preparation, including the application of a bonding layer to the concrete structure of the pool, the prepared and clean surface received Pebble Pro at a speed of 100 m² / day. Pebble Pro’s trained and qualified installers performed the floor laying using special tools. Clarification from Mr Boudouin: “The construction site was able to proceed optimally due to the perfect collaboration between the company responsible for the construction of the pool (note: Creation of the Born) and the Pebble Pro teams”. After application, washing work was still necessary to remove excess cement coating prior to coating.

An obvious choice of coating for this project

In addition to the construction of the concrete basin, the strength of the Pebble Pro waterproofing and finishing coating is to have given the owner of the campsite and the architect of the project free rein to their creativity. The result is a completely free-form swimming pool that distributes well-designed and delimited spaces in completely liquid form. The area that received the water games around the pirate ship was also covered with Pebble Pro for its finish. The main contractor’s choice for the Pebble Pro coating fell on the Topaz version, which combines a light gray background dotted with small pebbles in brown, beige, sand and white. The entire basin has been paved, as well as the submerged beach of the wave basin and the wild river corridors, all of which are submerged areas.

One of the advantages of the product for a project with several traffic areas is that it is naturally non-slip, while at the same time providing good comfort for bare feet. The form of maintenance was also crucial, with a final coating that requires little maintenance, namely high-pressure cleaning, without chemicals, before the pool is used again in the spring.

Finally, in terms of aesthetics, this finish allows for a great customization of the pool, by allowing mixing of different colors, for example, to delimit areas of the pool. The owner’s desire was to use durable, natural-looking materials to consistently preserve the soul of this campsite located in a region where nature areas are zealously protected.

After the campsite reopened its reservations in June 2021, customers immediately praised the new layout of the waterfront, discovering it first in a life-size photo project and then on July 4th! Satisfaction is total for the owner of the campsite, and for the bathers who, in addition to the comfort of this new water area, appreciate this non-slip reassuring surface, comfortable to the touch and with a very natural look.

Hand-picked pebbles

Pebble Pro finish is produced on swimming pools using one of nature’s hardest minerals: quartz. These natural quartz pebbles (“pebble” means “pebble” in English), come exclusively from New Zealand, selected for their perfect polishing by Mother Nature herself.
In addition, they are insensitive to chemicals used in swimming pools and therefore resist very well over time. With a smooth appearance, with non-slip properties thanks to their extra treatment, carefully mixed during the application of the coating, these quartz stones offer a finish quality that has already been proven all over the world for decades.
With this last coating, the swimming pool gets a very natural and original aspect that evokes the rivers or even the beaches with golden sand. The Pebble Pro finisher, which requires a specific application, is applied by a specialized team, trained by the manufacturer himself. The natural pebble color card offers a wide range of finishes in tones that are perfect for all environments.
