While waiting for the release of its first smartphone, Nothing provides a specific “launcher” to get a general idea of the product that will be offered. A limited experience at the moment, and offered only on a few smartphones.

Things promised, things due. Nothing announced earlier this month that a foretaste of the experience of its smartphone would be given using an app launcher. The application has been released quietly in the Play Store and you can now install it. Please note that it is only available on a few models. Google Pixel 5 and 6 as well as Samsung Galaxy S21 and S22 are affected. The company indicates that OnePlus smartphones will soon be able to take advantage of it. For our part, we have experienced it with a Samsung Galaxy S22.
minimum duty
The Nothing Launcher (Beta) application therefore allows, as the name suggests, to install a theme on their phone that at least partially reveals what the Nothing experience will look like on their upcoming smartphone, the Phone (1). Alas, at the moment it does not bring anything particularly crisp. By replacing the nothing theme with your phone’s main theme, you get a new wallpaper, an original (rounded) icon design and a few widgets. They are three in number and obviously occupy nothing aesthetics, with a dotted typo as well as the association of red, black and metallic gray colors.
The theme is installed from the Applications tab found in the settings.
That’s almost all. The first opinion that we can give you is very thin, insofar as we had the right to hope to benefit from a completely different experience than the rest of the smartphone fleet. But as it stands, Nothing’s interface is quite similar to what OxygenOS offers, with round icons or a rather distinctive font. Let’s wait for possible updates of the application before the release of the Nothing smartphone, which will undoubtedly clarify a little more the experience promised on the phone (1).
One UI 4 on the left, nothing on the right.
